Wayne Weekly: “Is Your Sticker Current?”

Written by on January 28, 2015

Car Inspections. If you drive a vehicle more than a few years old, they can be one big trying event. I’ve been through scores of them now and generally know I will probably be paying out more than the inspection fee.

This year it was a tie rod end, it morphed into an alignment issue that required some kind of off-set bolt being installed to bring the wheels into specs required. And then the ball joint that was teetering on becoming too worn out. If it wasn’t replaced, I would be looking at replacing it in the near future…and that would cost me another alignment charge. The rest of the story is in dollars and cents.

Even though most of us don’t relish car inspections, they certainly help us to drive safe cars. They help keep our vehicles street worthy. Inspections do have value.

In our Christian experience, we should regularly review our walk in Christ. God’s Word tell us first of all to examine ourselves to be sure we’re true believers:

“Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith…” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Then, as believers celebrating the Lord’s supper, the Scriptures say, “But let a man examine himself…”, (1 Corinthians 11:28).

Being sure that he has a clean heart before God before taking communion is extremely important to God. Judging ourselves steers us clear of our Christian walk being judged, not inspecting ourselves results in chastisement from the Lord.

Car inspections, a necessary part of our successful mobility on earth… self-inspections, a necessary part of our successful street worthy spiritual walk. Is your sticker current?
