New Year’s, New Fears, New Tears…New Cheers

2022 has arrived and will be with us for a full 365 days. Will the New Year be one of new fears, new cheers, or new tears? I sure hope mostly new cheers!

We all will face hardships in 2022. It wouldn’t be fair to say we won’t. But it’s how we react to the challenges ahead that make the difference. It’s good to remember as believers that we are not immune from those things that hit us head on, those devastating phone calls from a friend or family member, those breaking news reports on Covid, the social unrest, the reality of a missile exchange, the political quandary.

How thankful to be a recipient of hope as a child of God. We hold fast to the truth that “our steps are ordered by God”. Nothing comes our way, as an individual, or as a nation that is not ordained by our Sovereign God. Nothing can thwart His plans for us. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.

Hold firm to His promises as we traverse through 2022. Redeem the time for the days are evil, as the scripture directs us, but experience the joy that He will give us rest, that He will see us through, that He is coming for us some day, that truly, the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Trust God and determine that among the tears…there can be cheers.

2022 has met its match!

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.                                                   Deuteronomy 31:6
