Wayne Weekly “The Christmas Waltz”

Written by on December 23, 2016

Just the other day I heard a popular Christmas song with lyrics that say “It’s that time of year when the world falls in love”. Its melody is beautiful. It’s called “The Christmas Waltz” and has been performed by a number of artists throughout the years. Most of us are familiar with the Carpenter’s version.

The world falling in love is a wonderful thought, and produces much emotional overtone, but it really isn’t true to life. The world continually is full of unrest and much turmoil. For those of us in North America, we can easily experience the atmosphere of love that the Christmas season brings. Love of family and friends. Currier and Ives Christmases are the ones we often imagine. I’m thankful for that.

The world really doesn’t waltz when Christmas comes. It continues to reel and tremble due to one thing…sin. God’s Word tells us that “the whole creation groans…” because of sin (Romans 8:22).

As we celebrate the wonderful Christmas holiday that God has blessed us with, remember to pray for those who suffer throughout the world. Don’t allow yourself to be overtaken with the situation that much of the world contends with, but be mindful of those who know little of, “The Christmas Waltz”.
