Wayne Weekly “Breaking News: Fake News vs. Faith News”

Written by on February 10, 2017

Recently we have heard a lot about “fake news”. It seems that some media outlets like to either fabricate or mis-report news stories about people or beliefs that they don’t agree with or reporting that will win points from their constituency. The “liberal media” have been held accountable for false fact reporting, which has cause quite a rumble…and rightly so. We always thought a news outlet was just that…honestly reporting the factual news to us.

Spiritually speaking, there is a lot of “fake news” regarding the way to forgiveness and eternal life. Religionists and secular spokespeople alike are experts in propagating anti-God belief systems. Some things never change. Satan is the master deceiver, a liar and fabricates un-truths that appeal to those who are receptive to his misleading devises (John 8:44). Satan is a master counterfeiter. He often appears as “an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).

That brings us to the “faith news”. The real news is that “the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.” The reliable news is that putting ones faith in God’s only begotten son, Christ Jesus, as the sacrifice for our sin, and belief in His resurrection yields forgiveness and promises eternal life.

Though we can and should be angry about the media’s “fake news”, our righteous indignation should, to a greater extent, be directed toward the “world, the flesh, and the devil” and the evil web of deception that misleads so many.

Truth is what sets free. That’s “breaking news!” Read all about it!

John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
