Wayne Weekly “We Deliver for You”

Written by on December 19, 2018

While walking our family puggle, Daizy Dew early this morning, I was surprised to see a US Postal Delivery Truck slowed for a stop sign. I don’t recall ever seeing a mail truck out that early before, but I’m sure its common, especially around the holidays.

In bold dark blue letters on the side of the truck, the words “We Deliver for You” were jumping out at me. Well, that’s a good play on words I thought. I like the double meaning.

The Mars Hill Network can borrow that US Postal Service slogan easily and with accuracy as we recognize that the network has the sacred privilege of delivering the Word of God over the airways, and now cyberspace, 24/7 and has now for nearly for 50 years.

Delivering the saving message of the gospel and faithfully providing the Biblical instructions in how to live a victorious and godly life is our mission. It is our directive. Those who have led this ministry throughout the five decades of ministry raise the banner “no compromise” on the teachings of the Word of God. That commitment remains solid.

This Christmas, when we think of the wonderful story of the incarnation, let’s think of the word “deliver”.

The annunciation of Jesus’ birth was delivered to the Virgin Mary by Gabriel. An angel delivered the message in a dream to Joseph to “fear not in taking Mary as his wife” and the divine purpose was revealed to him.

The message of confirmation was delivered to Mary by her Aunt Elisabeth, “blessed is the fruit of thy womb”. An angel of the Lord delivered the message to Zacharias that his wife was to conceive and he was to name the baby John.

And then the shepherds, “watching their flocks by night”, were delivered the glorious message by an angel of the Lord about the birth of Jesus, and then joined by a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God.

So much delivering going on, so much bringing the good news to listening ears.

How thankful we can be that God reached down from Heaven and delivered all kinds of news to all kinds of people in the blessed Christmas story. How thankful we are that God entrusts each one of us to deliver the message of hope to those in our personal spheres of influence.

We here at the Mars Hill Network are blessed to “bring good tidings of great joy” to those who tune in. I suppose we can say, along with the US Postal Service…”we deliver for you”.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.                                                       Isaiah 9:6
