Wayne Weekly: Out of the Darkness…Into the Light

Written by on April 9, 2024

Many of us in Central New York were hoping to see a clear look at the recent solar eclipse. The day before the eclipse looked promising. Bright blue skies bathed Central New York with warm sunshine. That is generally not the norm here in our region anyway, but the chance for a vivid eclipse, now that gave hope.

Well, need I say anymore? The day of the eclipse was cloudy with only a few breaks in the cloud covering allowing anxious spectators to see a crescent eclipse at best. However we all experienced a minute of darkness, but that is not foreign to those of us here in CNY!

I recall the day I stepped out of spiritual darkness into glorious light. It was in early May nearly fifty-five years ago for me. Reading God’s Word while sitting under a big pine tree in the middle of a cemetery was the unusual place. John chapter 3 brought the whole thing home to me. I needed to be born again.

As I acknowledged my sin, my God given faith in the work of Christ, I stepped out of the darkness into his marvelous light. The dark eclipse of my being had left; the “Son” shone through. I saw the light!

I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.               John 12:46
