edge2-1Some of you may have made New Year’s resolutions. How’s that working out for you?

Have you ever made a resolution to do something or maybe to quit something only to give it up in a couple of weeks or a couple of days? Maybe you or someone you know has even lasted a few months before giving in or giving up. You’re not alone. In fact most people have experienced this sort of thing.

In Mark chapter 10 the disciples basically asked Jesus how anyone could ever be saved. His answer in verse 27 is this. “Humanly speaking it is impossible, but not with God. Everything is possible with God!”

Does that really mean everything? edge2-2

I believe it does. I trust Jesus and He didn’t say,” everything except …” I’ll let you fill in the rest because you know what your struggles are.

So often we try to accomplish impossible things in our own strength. So often we fail. In John 15:5 Jesus says, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”

Does that really mean nothing? Yup! Even people who say they don’t believe in God benefit from His presence in the world. If it wasn’t for Him we wouldn’t even be here.

So, back to that resolution, and by the way, these things aren’t meant only for New Year’s Eve. God says in 2 Cor. 12:9, “My power works best in your weakness.”

Do you want to accomplish impossible things? Maybe you need to. It might be drugs or alcohol that has a hold on your life. Your weakness may be giving in to passion and lust only to feel shame and emptiness afterwards.

One of the most amazing things about Jesus is that He is willing and able to help us carry the load, no matter what it is. He’s not afraid to get His hands dirty and get right in the mess with us. He wants to walk through it with you and be there to celebrate with you when you accomplish God’s Will. Wow! This isn’t one of those gods that sit on a shelf somewhere. He’s alive and ready to take an active role in your life.

Will you still face hard things and really difficult times? Oh yeah! Everyone does. Will Jesus still be there in the midst of it to help you cope and help you through it? Absolutely!

And don’t forget to include Him in the good stuff too. Otherwise, even your worship and your ministry (and we all have one) will become stale and too heavy to carry.

Remember, when you commit to God’s Will in your life, He doesn’t expect you to go it alone. If you lean on Him, He’ll never let you down.

edge2-3

These are two of my favorite verses that I depend on daily.

Romans 8:26 – And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

No matter how bad your situation might be this is a promise.

Depend on it!
