Let's Be Ambassadors Today

Flag

The Olympic games wrapped up over the weekend and wow what an exciting time that was for everyone to see the greatest athletes in the world compete at the top of their abilities. It was a truly an amazing sight to see and one I will remember for years to come. One of the most wonderful part of these games was watching the great pride with which these men and woman proudly put their countries emblem on their chest or back and gave everything they had in the name of their country. Whether a large country every knows like China or one that perhaps you had never heard of before such as Montenegro. These athletes were true ambassadors, the  face of their countries they represent, which was evident as they would proudly wave their flag.

All of this got me thinking though, do we as Christian wave our flags proudly everyday? In the say way that a French man or woman was a representative for the country of France, as Christians we are representatives of Jesus Christ. I pray that each and everyone of us that calls God our savior would proudly wear our flag and openly live as ambassadors of Christ. Let us remember that Paul wrote,  As we strive to run the race set before us, let us do as representatives of our God who sent his only son as payment for the sins of all the word.

2nd Corinthians 5:20

"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

As we strive to run the race set before us, let us do so as representatives of our God who sent his only son as payment for the sins of all the word.

What it Means to be Free

I like many people  enjoy the fourth of July and all that comes with this time of year, a day when most of us are off from work and we get together with family and friends to celebrate the freedoms that we enjoy on a daily basis. Barbeques, fireworks, and parades are all part of the celebration that we take part in to remember the oppression that we as a nation have escaped to better ourselves.

In the same regard that we are free from under the rule of Great Britain and their government as Americans, once we accept God as our Lord and Savior as believers in Christ we are free from the slavery of sin and God is our new master. We won’t set off fireworks every day but we can still live our lives

in a way that is reflective of hope that we can have being set free from wages of sin through the blood of Jesus Christ.

 And while in 1776 it was a matter of escaping law and creating one’s own law, in the battle for our soul it has a different set up of sides, as seen in Romans 6:14-18;

 “For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! 16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Let us never forget that through the blood of Christ we are, we are free indeed.
