CPMA April 11 Morning Meeting Report

Fifteen media professionals joined together Thursday morning to welcome WSYR’s news anchor Nia Carter to the Christian Professional Media Alliance (CPMA) breakfast meeting at Denny’s in Liverpool.

Nia shared about her spiritual journey and how the Lord Jesus had made Himself known to her as a little 5 year old girl, and subsequently, how God’s Holy Spirit had led her into a dynamic spiritual life long adventure. Nia candidly explained how she had at times wrestled with the will of God, and how God’s faithful persistence had carried her through the tough times.

Nia Carter testified to some of the struggles in her early days of news reporting. She faced obstacles of being an African American, a woman, a single Mom, and a Christian.

Nia also entertained some Q & A time with the attendees, and we concluded our time praying for Nia to stand firm and continue to be light in a dark world.

Our next CPMA meeting will be a lunch meeting Thursday May 9 at 11:30 am. Once again it will be a Denny’s on 7th North in Liverpool. Lunch is self-pay. Keep looking for more information.

Serving Christ Jesus with you in professional media,

CPMA welcomes Richard J Ruch, VP General Manager of the Lamar/Syracuse office, for our February CPMA Meeting.

Learn a little about Richard before the meeting.

My wife Judy and I now call the Syracuse area our home after moving here from Williamsport Pa. in 1997.  She is the love of my life and I am so proud of the work she is doing at New Hope family Services.  We found the hills of LaFayette a place to put down roots and then found Eastern Hills Bible Church as our place to worship where I am presently serving on the Elder board.

We have 2 children ,Nicole and her husband Paul Laga and our son Adam and his wife Jessica and our only grandson Logan. and our specila dog Hannah.

I am now in my 43rd year in outdoor advertising and I plan to stay as long as they will have me. I started in the industry with Penn Advertising as a bill poster and worked at many different jobs throughout the years and now I am the VP General Manager of the Lamar/Syracuse office.

I have been a follower of Christ since 1983 and throughout the years spent time leading youth groups and teaching senior high students. My greatest joy is helping others experience the love of Jesus in everything they do.

I love to spend time in the outdoors hiking, hunting , fishing, skiing, snowshoeing , playing golf and teaching my grandson everything I can.

Sincerely,

Richard J Ruch

Meeting November 13th

The Christian Professional Media Alliance (CPMA) will be having their next lunch meeting on Tuesday,  November 13 from 11:30 am to 1 PM. The venue will be Denny’s off of 7th North St. in Liverpool. Lunch is self-pay.

This months guest speaker will be John Carter of New Vine Media, www.newvinemedia.com . New Vine Media owns and operates professional recording studios, as well as offering multi-media services.

john carter of new vine ministriesJohn grew up in the 80's in and around the radio and music industry.  John's dad (also John Carter) was a popular radio disk jockey and program director / music director for several radio stations around the country, eventually finding their home in Binghamton, New York in 1984.  He received his first record player and album collection as a gift from his parents on his 9th birthday which changed his world forever.  His love for music and pop media would keep him up late at night listening to the latest radio hit singles over the static on his alarm clock radio.

new vine studiosEventually, John learned how to play guitar and started to develop a band in his freshman year of high school leading to several other bands over the years.  At the age of 17, John went to a concert and received a tract sharing his desperate need for a savior.  That year in September 1992, though living in a family that declared atheism, John received Jesus Christ as His Lord, and Savior.  Since then, John has served as a missionary to India, a pastor, a church planter, a nationally syndicated radio show producer, a worship leader, and a creative director for other larger radio networks in the Northeast.

John Carter is now the founder and CEO of New Vine Media, a missions organization with the vision to create music, media, and communications to influence the nations for Christ based in Ithaca, NY.  John lives there with his faithful wife of 14 years; Amy, with three beautiful children, Hannah 13, John 12, and Madison 10.

John is in the process of creating a unique and innovative ministry to Christian music artists and professionals.

Come and be informed, challenged and motivated as a Christian in the media world.
