Careathon Puts on a New Face,

April 24, 25 and 26

Careathon '08. It's something new in the air, and we're confident you'll enjoy its new "look", or should I say "sound"! Program Director Chris Tetta and staff promise we'll be "soaring high" in Careathon excitement.

The Mars Hill Network has presented its yearly fund raiser since March of 1976. This year Careathon will be held Thursday April 24 and concludes at Midnight from our studios on Saturday, April 26. We also hope that you will join us for a special Celebration Concert with Damaris Carbaugh and the Mars Hill staff!

What's new in the air? How about "on the road" reports with Mark Hard and Dan Dunn. Mark and Dan will be stopping at strategic locations in proximity to our main Syracuse studios visiting pastors and Christian leaders with live on air reports.

"Got live music?" Yes we do! Careathon '08 will invite local Christian artists up to our studios to join us in celebrating God's faithfulness, and making a major contribution to the excitement. And, of course, in studio guests, testimonies from listeners, ... the list goes on.

Radios for the World

This year The Mars Hill Network is pleased to partner with Trans World Radio in their China Church Kit Campaign. The Church in China today is widely recognized as one of the fastest growing anywhere in the world. Trans World Radio (TWR) initiated its Radio Church Kit project (RCK) in 1994 as a supplementary tool to its ongoing broadcasts in order to help Christians grow in sound biblical doctrine. By providing a radio, Bible and Christian materials in each kit, Chinese church leaders can help train and disciple believers. One house church leader told TWR, "We listen to TWR programs daily so we can be fed as we serve. We encourage our 200-300 leaders under us to do likewise." Each week thousands of believers in China gather secretly in house churches and other locations to listen to TWR"s broadcasts. For many, TWR has become "their church" and our radio voices are "their pastors." Since the project began, TWR has distributed 81,500 Radio Church Kits to house church networks inside China.

The cost for one of these Church Kits is $75. The Mars Hill Network will provide one China Church Radio Kit for every $5,000 pledged during Careathon. Join with us as we partner with Trans World Radio to bring the message of Jesus to the people of China.

As you read this, I hope you are taking a some time to pray and listen to God, asking Him - "Okay Lord, What part to you want me to play in Ministering Life using the Mars Hill Network as a tool to further the Great News of Salvation?" Did you know that last year it cost $723,674 to keep our four radio stations and 14 translators on the air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? That's 8,736 hours of ministering life! In dollars and cents, that amounts to $82.83 per hour. And just think - Mars Hill has been on the air since March 9, 1969. When you do the math, that's approximately 340,704 hours of telling others the wonderful message of salvation thru Jesus Christ!

I often wonder while sitting at work here on top of Onondaga Hill who is listening, and how is God using Mars Hill in different lives in different ways? Then a letter or call from a listener tells us how much Mars Hill has ministered to them, at just the right time with exactly what God wanted them to hear. People are tuned in! God's Word is being heard! Listeners are growing in our Lord, and they often tell us how thankful they are for Mars Hill.
